Need some information on breakthrough bleeding.?

i had a tubal ligation about 12 days ago and feel fine. i went off my pill and was expecting the breakthrough bleeding, but didn't think about it being so much. it is more like a period. how long does it last and will i have a period next week now? i thank you now for your help.
